"I've gotta give the mayor and City Council credit for trying to use city-owned property to start moving people off the streets, but it's like every community experiences this level of pushback," said John Maceri, the director of People Concern, which has recently served Malibu's estimated 180 homeless. "If every community would take a piece of it, it could be broken into smaller chunks. It's like we're chasing our tails. No one wants the problem, but no one wants to be a part of the solution."

"You can be forgiven for just about anything in our culture, except not pulling your financial weight," Malibu United Methodist Church Reverad Sandy Liddell said. "It's the one unforgivable sin."

Seattle and New York are prime examples of what happens when the liberals are left to destroy the country unchecked... these are only THREE of the many recent stories of horrible crimes ....... we have elections coming up people- giving up and giving into to the left wing ideal of expensive ugliness is NOT an option! The facilities need to be built and those in need shall get their need met THERE!

I am so glad you bolded the quote from some random religious representative. It shows the absurdity of this entire thing. The Left follows Marx but cynically quotes from religious leaders to bolster their own aims when it is convenient to do so. Example: This is a budget that Jesus would approve of.

Is it Jesus' will to, besides feeding and housing bums and giving them all manner of assistance in our own neighborhoods, also give them clean needles and methodone? No doubt that is God's will too, right? No doubt Jesus is all safe sex practices too.

If they want to actually follow the Bible they need to read:

2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

While they took care of the poor they did not take care of any who did not actually try to get work, etc.

Many homeless are willing to work or are working, help them. The ones who don't, well let them: reap what they sow.

Except that virtually all bible scholars agree that in Thessalonians it was the idle rich being admonished for not working, not the poor

Quote:
"The vast majority of the earliest Christians were poor, but by the time of the writing of 2 Thessalonians, some people with wealth were joining the movement. When Paul castigates some for not working but benefiting from the work of others, it is not an instruction against caring for the poor or organizing society around the needs of the poor. It is a judgment against rich people exploiting the poor. This resonates with another New Testament text from James 5: “The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.”

Using Thessalonians 3:10 to legitimize denial of benefits to the poor is as crazy as slave owners using Ephesians 6:5-9 to justify slavery.

Then they didn't read it. The context of the entire book does not mention anything about the rich nor give any indication of such. It is speaking about work and toil not the idle rich.

Bad analogy about slavery and is not part of the subject.

It has nothing to do with the poor as they were told to help the poor, but not the idle lazy ones.

In CA we see both those needing help and those who will not change, being short changed by the Govt. One side, those who want out of it get too little help, and the other is allowed to do too much bad and with no repercussions to encourage a change in behavior. Bad choices combined with bad governance is making it worse not better.

Facts.

You don't even need to go to the new testament. God gives his belief on work ethic in the very first chapter of the Bible.

Genesis 3:19
By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”
