A hidden gem is Crescent Bay Point Park off PCH just north of Laguna Beach. What a view!

Angeles Crest Highway up by Pasadena is the best non-ocean scenic drive in SoCal imo. Just make sure you do the backside to Wrightwood and pull over for the speeding bikers.

If you are trying to stay local, my vote also goes for Santiago Canyon Road. I used to live in Orange and my now wife used to live in Rancho Santa Margarita, so I would drive it quite frequently and it was a very nice drive. As others have said, you can turn off at Live Oak Canyon Road.

If you are looking for drives that are not so local, you can try going through Glendora Mountain Road. One drive to be cautious of is Mullholland Drive. Although it is very scenic, there are a lot of curves and is frequented by bikers and cars that use it as a "proving" ground.

Happy driving!
