I agree. Newport is not that nice. It's more about exclusive residential communities.

YEs there are. You just cannot get to them. There are several isalnd communities that are eleite, as well as a number of exclusive developments in the heights.

I live about 45 min from NB. I only go every several mos or so ONLY to go to Fashion Island. That's the best shopping I know about. You're right, the Irvine Spectrum is nice too, but if you only have time to visit one mall, Fashion Island is the one.

I agree. "Fascist Island" as I call it, and South Coast Plaza (Santa Ana) are the best for shopping.
Otherwise Newport is stale and boring. Nothing to do. Beautiful but boring. And difficult to meet people.

Yes, the South Coast Plaza's nice too, but other than that, Fashion Island, & the Irvine Spectrum, I know nothing about the city. I think I walked along a street close to the beach there, but that's it. I'm a shopper! But if I knew of something else nice there, I'd go to that too!

Balboa Island? Crystal Cove? Newport/Balboa piers? Back Bay? Newport's not as dull as a lot of you are making it out to be!

What is special and different?? it is what everyone else sees and wants. we live in one of the most beautiful, safe and clean environments. Something to be appreciated and be aware of. try the pot holes in other cities. the homeless and the crime lurking in every inch.looking behind yourself every moment. the smog, the grit..the lack of trees or mountains..needless to mention the Ocean. i am so glad to live here!!
Things are only as bad or agood as your own mind.
