A big government will diminish responsibility, guns, and our freedom. We don't want to become robots working for our master in DC.

When thugs or terrorists attack yourself of a group of others (say in a hotel!) I'd rather be a hero; than a zero.

Some of the safest areas on earth, like up in the islands off the coast of Maine, everyone has guns. They don't need to use them, but they have them for security and peace.

Studies show crime rates go up after gun control.. This is because the bad guys will always have guns no matter what the laws say. Bad guys are less likely to use them if the good guys have them.

I don't know...it sounds more like a macho thing to me. I've never carried a gun, although I keep one at my cabin because it's remote.

But just going out and about it's all I can do to handle my wallet, glasses, checkbook, & keys! Not sure where I would put a gun walking around OC in shorts and a t-shirt.

As posted on the other OC thread, I feel for you gunowners in CA & OC. Some time has passed and Sheriff Hutchens has revoked many of the permits issued by your former sheriff. I hope you can twist the arms of your politicians enough to become a "shall issue" state. Truth is, permits themselves violate the 2nd Amendment, but we have to fight 1 battle at a time.

Here in NC, we are relatively fortunate. We've had CCW since 1995 and very few people have gotten into trouble with it. Most police officers in our state strongly support armed citizens. Many of the firearms instructors here are police officers.

Does having a gun mean nothing bad will ever happen to me? NO, I am not that naive. But it means I may have a fighting chance in a bad situation, as opposed to being unarmed and helpless. No thug will harm me or my family if I can prevent it.
