Trying to get a rough idea of the cost, to figure out whether it's worth doing at all, or if I should just get rid of everything I cannot move on my own.

Are you talking real movers or just a bunch of laborers from Home Depot?

800 plus if you’re doing a moving company.
150 a person plus trailer if doing Home Depot laborers. You may get a few guys hourly but theire gonna want full days pay.

If you belong to a church, ask if there might be some guys who could come over and help you move a few things. If you don't, call the nearest Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) church. They are usually willing to do this sort of thing for free, though it would be nice to offer some cash.

The Mormons will send a team of young missionaries who will do this for free. They're not allowed to take cash. Bring some bottled water. They do not try to convert you either.

Really?! That's awesome. Is there a particular one to call?

Last time I contacted them, they had a phone # flyer in the office of our local storage unit. You could just call the local temple and ask.
