That is our Dana Point Costco . This will be our first Costco trip since returning. Ralphs and Trader Joes are just normal , as usual operations.

However, when we lived on Kauai Island, and a hurricane was heading our way, and there were Hurricane warinings, we all too that very seriously, and would stock up on emergency supplies.

It was interesting to see, shoppers at the LIHUE COSTCO, with baskets filled with T.P, and cartons of bottled water and then baskets rolling along with food items. No problems, and Lihue, COSTCO did not run out of those products, that we were aware of.

The island learned after INIKI made a direct hit and demolished the island, buildings, shops, hotels. trees, electrical and telephone poles, and to this day, some areas have not been rebuilt. we took all warnings seriously and prepared with more than just shopping for T.P Brought in patio furniture, tape windows, etc.

In the 10 years that we lived here, at Banyan Harbor, just across from Kalapaki Beach and the Lihue Marriot and Nawilwili harbor, many Hurricanes were down graded, or went north or south of us. Wind and rain, and some flooding, but nothing like INIKI.......she was was supposed to stay south, and as she was about to pass Kauai, INIKI did a sharp 90 degree right hand turn, and Force Five winds and accompanying seas make a direct hit on the island. It was horrific.

As to the coronavirus, we are not stocking up, as incidents here in Orange County are very, very, very few. But, if there is an actual outbreak and we need to protect ourselves, we will do what is necessary. Right now, we are going to follow the published procedures, and be alert, use situational awareness, wash our hands, stand clear of people coughing into their elbows especially when out and about, which is frequent.

And as per normal procedure, if we get sick from anything, which is very infrequent, we stay home , and take care of ourselves and do not go out and infect others with colds, flu, Virus' etc.

Otherise, we will continue to live our happy and active lives here in south county....

Yeserday, we worked out, and then when hiking Crystal Cove, the No Dogs Rail, down the Poles Trial, and then the
Canyon Trail back to the ranger station, and then our rewards. Drove up to Corona Del Mar to Tommy Bahama's for Erica to use her 25% discount card in ladies wear, and I snugged into the bar, then we both had lunch.

Today , thrs, we are off to hike a short Nature Trail at Caspers Wildlife Park and then BBQ some steaks, and enjoy the peacfulness of no one else being around.

See why we love Orange County.

Denny and Erica
tl;dr

Paper Towels, and cleaning supplies. Maybe some folks want to sanitize their homes to not only help themselves in staying healthy, but also protect other family members from contracting colds, flu, or what ever. Yep, use a paper towel instead of cloth bathroom towels for hands and face drying .

Actually our place always looks clean, tidy and totally squared away, but she, a retired supervising M.D, for L.A County health department, wants to keep our the home clean to her standards. We take the money that would be paid to a house cleaner and go out to fine dinners .

Since we are a team, on Saturdays, I have the fun , outdoors, duty...with the bank, Ralphs Market, Fuel the car, CVS Pharmacy, and washing and detailing the car here at home. Then, when we are finished, we both sit down, have a beer, and then take showers and then go out for Saturday night date night.

Sunday, she goes in the early morning to Costco, or Trader Joes. She alternates those
forays .

It is easy to keep a rather well stocked supply of everything that we require.

We definitely are not hiding in a coronavirus , sealed up bunker. But, we also are not getting on Cruise Ships, or visiting China or Italy, or other actual major problem areas.

We all just need to do what feels right for ourselves and our families .

We chose to prepare sensibly, and sort out the actual facts for our area, or places that we may consider visiting.

The above is our life style, and we do not expect others to think or live the same as we do.

You all, Stay safe, stay healthy, and have fun.

At our local Wal-Mart, there were empty shelves on which the antibacterial wipes and Purel-type products are normally stocked, but shelves were full of paper towels.

Paper towels were also being rationed at the Costco in Laguna Niguel (Heather Ridge Road). There also seemed to be runs on food staples like large bags of rice, but there was still a lot available.

Living a mere 10 miles from the San Andreas and 18 miles from the Elsinore fault zone for the past 15 years, I'm already stocked up on the essentials. It's almost like I'm a Mormon.

They snatched all the TP butt left the baby wipes? Probably because they're not flushable.

I am fed up with all of the pure bull **** blasting out from social media and the TV networks. Bloody misrepresentations and lies. EMERGENCY CORONA VIRUS OUTBREAK. We use our heads and check with the proper certified authority.

Time out people , get the facts and act accordingly. I see total mass histeria and fear and irrational behavior on the part of the masses.

We have maybe five cases in Orange County. We do take that seriously , but do not panic .

So, what do we do......

* Avoid large gatherings of people. Yep, we cancelled our big St. Pats party at the Coach House in
San Juan Capistrano. We have been following the FENIANS IRISH BAND FOR THIRTY YEARS and always celebrate
St. Pats, with them , or other Irish Bands, including when we lived on Kauai, or Huntington Harbor, etc.....

* Wash our hands, after returning from working out at our semi private gym, or coming from the market, or being out, and while being out to dinner and drinks. Smaller venues than the Coach House, which is packed body to body, and who knows about the kitchen help, bar tenders, and waitstaff. This goes for common colds, the latest flu, or the coronavirus

* Have situational awareness and pay attention as to what is going on around us, and stay away from people who appear look, or sound sick from anything .

* If we think we are coming down with something, I head to my VA, or Erica to KAISER... and if ill, we will not be out and about , as we will lay low, and not pass whatever on to others.

* We sure are not climbing on board CRUISE SHIPS, and we know of people who are getting on board that Cruise Ship at
Long Beach, that just had a situation with the Corona Virus, to take a cruise down to Mexico. Actually, we always stay away from cruise ships with thousands of people on board as they are incubators for disease and sickness...long before the Corona Virus.

* Also, the VA Hospital Long Beach, is screening people at the entrances for Corona Virus and they have no reported cases of corona virus, in any form,.

Are we still going out ? You betcha, but it will be to smaller venues, locally, and out to Borrego Springs in a couple of weeks ( desert). Also, later on, up to Julian ( mountains) to a small bed and breakfast that has also become a tradition. We can check with both of them them as to their health situation. Should they have any problems we can cancel or postpone.

Point being, we will do our best to continue our active lifestyles, and still remain healthy . I totally disregard the BS on the local TV news, about Orange County and Los Angeles and the OUTBREAK.

Oh, Erica did go to Costco on Sunday, not crowded, and purchased our normal two weeks supply of whatever, with no problem. The advice on this forum was to stay away from costco on sunday. It was all easy and no crowds.

I went to Ralphs, and added some some missed items from a few days before. Yes the TP area and paper towel shelves at Ralphs were nearly bare. But, we already have a huge normal supply of TP from Costco, and I did get a six roll package of paper towels, and a few items , no wait at the check out stand. Apparently the masses have already stashed their garages full of T.P, paper towels, and sanitary wipes . they should be all set for a long time. That is good.

Please stay safe, stay smart, and don't let the FEAR MONGERS, get ya down.

We will still have our own St. Pats party, irish trad music, including some fine rebel songs, along with a bit of Jamesons Irish Whiskey and Shepherds Pie..

"May the wind be always at your back, may the road rise to meet your feet, and may ya be a half hour in Heaven , before the devil knows that you are dead."
