Hey folks. New Yorker here, sadly. I usually make a trip out to LA/OC towards the end of the Summer, and I am planning to eventually move West within the next couple of years...especially now with NYC turning into diseased cesspool.

Might seem vapid, but wondering if you think bars will be open in LA/OC by end of summer? In particular, there's a fave place of mine in Los Alamitos that I always hit when I'm there.

I hope so....however, social distancing will be challenging if people are drunk.

Some of them are open (and have been open) if you know where to look

They may start having a drink or a time restriction.

If by "end of Summer" you mean by Labor Day Weekend, I'd say yes, but a lot of bars may never reopen because of financial woes.

Someone will take over or buy out. Expect drinks to be more expensive. Happy hour will be happy 30 minutes.

Actually, we do not know, but are hoping that they will be able to open . However, they are now finding that the crono virus is attacking more than just the respiratory systems. It is attacking the whole body and other systems including the heart.

Very long news article today, 5/11/20.....that is very explicit, easy to understand, and should be cause for concerns....
This is not just a bad boy flu, it is much more complex than the medical people thought.

What we currently do since there no happy hours , or saturday night date nights out.

After hiking happy hour .... well, it is now at home. We have earned a reward, and we stow our hiking gear and
have a rum or whiskey, or coldie.

Same for saturday night date nights. Usually, we would go to a happy hour first, and then out to a nice dinner. Those days at bars and restaurants are on hold. But, we can get a special dinner take out, and then come home for cocktails We put on our fave hawaiian, caribbean, or other upbeat music and our fun light is lit.

Another out door activity, is that we have found some open area BBQs, no crowds, or gatherings, or usually anyone else in the area, . We bring some quality Trader Joes Prime Filet steaks, and a salad, and sports drink containers with rum for Erica and Jamesons for myself. Wonderful, easy good time. We clean up the BBQ and the area that we have used when done.

We also continue to follow all of the promulgated safety procedures, yet still get outdoors .

Personally, we are not going to any of the early opening bars, until there is an all clear sounded . We have one place in San Clemente , that is open, photos in the news paper, but we do not feel it is smart or safe to be crowded in the long line to get in, or be knocking down the booze in close quarters with people we have never met before. Not safe, not smart, and to us irresponsible .

There ya go, lad, just FYI in case we are still at the mercy of this dreaded virus, that seems to be attacking in many more ways than originally believed. Honestly, I just read the official report in the news this morning.

The above scoops are from a very active Yankee Irishman, who has lived an amazingly adventurous, and active life for many decades. World wide. And, yep , we want our bars and restaurants back open , but we need it to be a safe for everyone . However, we continue to make our own good time, and get thru it all standing up right.

On the positive side, when you arrive in Orange County, may your favorite watering hole be open and lively.

Care to share any of yours? I only found one playing speakeasy style but would love some more options. Feel free to DM if preferred.

LA County probably would be locked down until a vaccine. I wouldn't count on bars being open at the end of summer.
