No offense meant, but Pomona to Irvine is a cake-walk compared to Irvine to Victorville. Pomona is relatively close and you can go the 57 or you can go "the back way" (91 to Norco to Phillip's Ranch into Pomona), but Victorville is out Apple Valley way through the Devore Pass. It is MUCH MUCH further than the OC/LA Co border town of Pomona.

From Irvine, between 2-3 hours—you'd be looking at spending almost 6 hours a day in your car. And that's if you pay the $15/day tolls. Without them, it would be even longer.

Starting from Yorba Linda, it might shave off 20 or so minutes I'm guessing, if that. You won't be paying tolls though, which would be the only upside.
