Hello everyone,

Thank you for your wonderful contributions to this website. We are a family of four, two adult professionals and two kids, 4 an 11 years old. We currently reside in Studio City. A good business opportunity came up and we’re seriously thinking about moving to orange county. Both of us will be working in two locations: one in Brea and one in Laguna Hills, so looking for an area with acceptable commute to both locations.

We are looking for a 4+ bedroom newer home in safe neighborhood with easy access to schools, either public or private. We like to be close to city life- food, shopping, walking to places, etc. Would be great to be close to water, but not required. Budget is 2.5-3M.

Could you recommend a neighborhood that will work for us?

Thanks.

Not convinced this is real. But if it is, Villa Park, North Tustin, Irvine.
You mention City Life and you're moving to Orange county. If that's a priority you don't want to move here.
You didn't define acceptable commute.

Why wouldn't this be real? Need to be within about 20 miles to Laguna Hills and Brea, shorter is better of course.

Moving to OC due to business opportunity. Would like to be close to shopping/restaurants/parks rather than up in the hills area. Looking for more upscale and safe neighbourhoods.

Thanks for your suggestions.

The miles to travel are not the problem, it is the traffic. A bit closer to Brea would probably be best as that is the heaviest traffic direction and South to Laguna Hills would be a "little" better. Just getting to a freeway takes time and then you slow down. Not as bad now with the businesses shutdown or minimal opening, work from home, etc.

I don't know if you can find anything in the 2-3m range in the Harbor View Homes area in Newport Beach (the "Port" streets), but it would be a great area and so would the Harbor View Hills area of Corona del Mar.

Also look at Placentia, Yorba Linda, Tustin, especially the newer area near Beckman High School, the newer parts of Irvine like Portola, Westbury, etc, then University Park and Turtle Rock.

The commute times will never work out to 20 minutes to each. The center of Santa Ana would be about 20 minutes each with no traffic, but a) you don't want to live in Santa Ana and b) there is never no traffic during working hours.

We bought a house in your price range in Newport Coast three months ago. Super easy access to the 73, 55 and 405. I regularly drive to Fullerton and it takes about 30 minutes. We absolutely love it here.
