Any suggestions on good chinese food, specifically dim sum in Irvine and surrounding area?

I would try Tim Ho Wan & Capital Seafood (both in Irvine). Tim Ho Wan in this location is lack luster compared to Taiwan, HK and NYC locations but it'll satisfy a craving. Capital Seafood in the Spectrum Center is decent but in my opinion you can't compare it with better dim sum spots in LA & NYC.

If you are willing to go a bit farther north. Seafood Cove #2 in Westminister is pretty good too.

Try China Garden on Jeffrey Blvd. I mainly go there for their seafood dishes like lobster noodles but their dim sum is decent.

Din Tai Fung at South Coast Plaza, Tim Ho Wan at Diamond Jamboree, Capitol Seafood in the Spectrum and JA Jiaozi Authentic Dumplings in Tustin Marketplace. Capitol Seafood used to have carts, but I doubt they will going forward. The only thing at Tim Ho Wan I found outstanding was their baked BBQ pork buns; they are sublime.

But noting in OC compares to what you get in the SGV. I still go up there when I need a real fix.
