Which parts of Brea or Yorba Linda are considered a nice family neighborhood? Any areas near hiking trails? Any places I should avoid? Thanks in advance.

Both Brea and Yorba Linda are nice areas for families with YL being a little more expensive in certain parts. I would not consider any parts of these two cities as needing to be avoided. They both are completely safe cities

both are nice. Brea might have slightly more convenient freeway access and major retail access as well (mall, downtown brea, downtown fullerton) while Yorba Linda has more choices in larger homes/lots and hiking trails. I now live in Yorba Linda but used to live in Brea. I miss Brea's easier access to the places I frequented, but Yorba Linda had more homes on the market with over 2,500 sq feet when I was looking to move.

I can’t believe how much houses cost in YL now. I grew up in YL, my dad bought the house in 1974 for $42k now valued at $1.2M. I remember growing up when our house value hit $300k my dad almost fainted he thought nobody would ever pay $300k for his house.

Wow, amazing when $300K was considered very expensive to buy a house! Thanks for all your replies. It is very hard to find any nice 4-bed house below $1million nowadays in OC.

I live in Placentia so in between lol.
These folks have covered it well. Both are nice and family friendly.
YL = more neighboorhoody and conservative, but a bit isolated.
Brea = more shopping centers, more young people, but busier streets etc.

One big difference is the housing ages. Brea will have a lot more newer builds, condos, etc. YL is almost all older builds. YL do have some new builds but they will be well well over $1m.

Good to know, thank you. If I wasn't living where I was now, I like these 2 areas, but I think I tend to sway more towards Brea a bit so far.
