My tenant has filed a small claim against me for the part of the security deposit I withheld, can anyone recommend an attorney to help me?

Thanks

You do not need an attorney, simply document the reasons why you with held that part of the deposit. House filthy, get a receipt for the cleaning bill, doors damaged, get receipt. Take pictures if possible. Normal wear and tear does not county, if they lived there for 1+ years, carpet cleaning and painting would be considered normal wear and tear. Damaged, burned flooring would not. Save yourself the money and simply attend the trial yourself. As a paralegal, I have handled many of these cases in OC before moving to PA. It will take all of 15 minutes once your case is called. Explain your reasoning for keeping part of the security and if you have pics bring them. Also, did they turn in the keys, if not, you had to rekey the lock, that is also deductible from the security deposit. Email me and I will help you along.
