Hi, Considering moving to OC. Job is possibly in Riverside, at UC Riverside. How long of a commute would it be from various locations in OC to Riverside? Where are the best places to live with good schools within 45 minutes of Riverside? Thanks!

Yorba Linda or Anaheim Hills(close to the 91). You're probably already nearly 30min at least from that point, but you do have the option of the toll road, though it is very expensive during rush hour.

Metrolink also goes to Riverside, so you may want to research that as well. Metrolinktrains.com

I would not suggest any coastal, western, or southern OC city and would stay along the 91 corridor.

You may also want to consider Temecula, which is in south Riverside county. More affordable housing with respectable schools.

Spot on advice from BH on the OC.

If you are willing to pay a $8 toll everyday & tack 15 minutes onto that commute you could use the 241 toll road and include Tustin & Irvine in that mix.

Tread warily with Temecula though. Traffic northbound in the a.m. & southound in the p.m. on the 15 & 215 is pretty brutal. Also that area is the epicenter of the foreclosure crisis in So Cal. Could be an opportuntiy but would also be a risk.

Good luck

I second bhcompy and OC Investor. Excellent advice and those are nice communities.

from what i experienced, traffic will be opposite way for you.

if you live in OC and commute to Riverside, the traffic wont be that bad and it will be a pretty smooth drive - probably right around 45 minutes. if you go more east, like yorba linda and anaheim as suggested above, it should be around 30 minutes. both cities have very respectable schools.

Hello everyone!

I appreciate your feedback and replies. What would a typical 4 br 2.5 bath home go for in Yorba Linda, Annaheim Hills, Long Beach, or Irvine?

I regularly commute from Santa Ana to Riverside. It usually takes about 47 minutes. There is rarely any traffic going in that direction but it is a dead stop going the other way. Sometimes it takes an hour and a quarter if there is a traffic problem. Once it took three hours (someone got killed).

In Irvine, a 4BR is $725k minimum. Can go up to $1MM+. Average would be $800k.
