although my buddy and i are only 18, we still drink alot.. the only problem is getting into clubs and stuf. we more planned on the option of just meeting a few people and just chillen with them, maybe meeting some people who were down enough to get us some stuf.. that kind of thing.. but all your replies definitly helped me a little bit better to understanding the areas better.
keep on replying if you have more answers, haha.

I've been to orlando the last few years in january. It's amazing....I see condo signs....and they start with a "1", lol.

Like...$120, or $140? And these are nice looking places. And a comparable condo in oc or so cal....4, 5, 6, 7? Is it really 5 times better in oc? What are you buying? Maybe its more expensive in south florida than orlando.

I've heard from some people in florida, they dont like the flatness of the state, and miss the mountains in Cali. And the weather, hurricanes, takes getting use to.

Party, warm weather, florida wins.

A more conservative, relaxed family, big box suburban life, oc then.

Those condo prices in Orlando are because the salaries here are terrible, I mean terrible!

Even in the low hundreds? Like $130 k? And Orlando isn't far from the beach....I think 45 minutes, an hour? Hour and a half?

Last time I was there, the cab driver taking us home said he use to live in San Diego and missed the mountains. And the hurricanes would flatten palm trees, it would bend them to the ground.

I know the salaries in oc aren't 4 or 5 times higher. But they were nice looking places and were lots of them around the outskirts of the city.

I was suprised they were so cheap, considering the beach. It's not phoenix or dallas or another inland city.

Other things I liked about Orlando as a visitor (besides the parks)

-The I Ride trolley is pretty cool. It takes you around the city, it picks up from many hotels, convenient if you dont want to drive.

-Very little traffic! Shocking actually. On the roads outside of Disney World, wow, you'd never see that in so cal.

-Downtown Orlando reminded me some of downtown Vegas, the t shirt shops, souvenir shops. May not be everybodys thing, or too tacky, but good if you want to bring back souvenirs, or buy a shirt for someone.

-Great convention hotels (have stayed at Rosen Shingle Creek and some others).

Overall, the city has a modern feel to it (cool airport, and subway/shuttle that takes you from one end to the other)

Why are salaries so low if it gets so much convention business and so many tourists?

The traffic was interesting though. What a contrast.

I've seen international drive, there's a house that's upside down, a museum? And theres a little mall across the street.

The t shirt, souvenir shops, the 50's, 60's motels. Looked sort of like Anaheim, or Vegas souvenir shops. Maybe a few miles from international drive.

Downtown Orlando is Orange Ave, Lake Eola, Church St .etc.

It does have a few T-Shirt shops, but the area John23 is describing sounds like Lake Buena Vista Dr or Kirkman by Universal Studios.
