Hello!

We have lived in beautiful olde Carlsbad, CA, in a custom home one mile from the beach for the past 10 years. Our budding musician is planning to go to the Orange County High School for the Arts, which is in Santa Ana. Too far to drive (about an hour without traffic)! We are considering relocating a little farther north. We both work from home, but prefer to be fairly close (30 minutes?) to the OC airport.

Where can we find a home without fees in a comparable area in Orange County? We currently have RV parking and a pool, so would love those amenities, which would probably limit us to custom or older tract homes on larger lots. We are Jewish professionals with a conservative bent, with two children of middle school age. Our current home is probably worth about $1mil in today's market, but would love to buy a new one for about $700K, so we would be mortgage free- yippee!

We would appreciate any advice as to neighborhoods to consider. Thank you!

If you can give up being by the water try Anaheim Hills, Yorba Linda, Orange or Tustin. Older areas, but would have the larger lot you are seeking. Not sure if it is in your price range (but maybe, given the market now a days) but you may want to look at Lemon Heights/ Cowan Heights area as well

There are also older parts of Irvine where you may find something of interest. Check the area Bordered by Culver/University/Walnut/Irvine Center Drive. Its one of the few areas in town that have no HOA's that would frown on the RV. Also Irvine has OC's largest Jewish community & is next to SNA, so would be friendly to these needs.

Good Luck!

Thanks! I will check out the areas you mention. I didn't realize Irvine had a decent-sized jewish community...

It isn't like west LA or NYC, but I beleive it is the largest in OC. Kind of like being the tallest midget
