I was under the impression Laguna Beach and Laguna Hills are nice areas, I was looking at apts in those areas and they seem to be not as high as I had imagined. I was expecting to see $2000/month but I was getting some $1350-ish ones. So are there some bad areas?
No,there are no bad areas in Laguna Beach ,but the area at El Toro (next to Laguna Woods) is way more affordable than the village bcoz it is relatively far from the ocean .Laguna Hills has some old running down parts ,nothing bad about these areas regarding saftey ,schools,or weather..just these areas are old and they don't look that nice ,there are mobile homes in these areas too ,and as I've said they're equally safe ..just don't look nice as the rest of sOC.
What you will get with $1350/m is more likely to be 1-2bdr/1-2bath (around 800 sqft)apartment in LH ,or a tiny studio/apartment(500-750 sq ft )in LB ,that if ur lucky and find such a thing with this price .
I lived in LH (Moulton about 2 miles down from El Toro Rd toward Aliso Viejo) in the 90's.
Back then, there were a whole bunch of apartments and cheap condos on the "west" side of Moulton (away from the freeway). And they were getting run down and a bit dumpy then. Still a nice low crime area. Mostly working people and college students. I wonder if that's what's in that price range these days....
