I can't believe what many of you fellow OCers are writing. As an interior designer in
south county, I know HUGE numbers of OCers who are absolutely just as self-absorbed and self-centered as those on "Real Housewives" and "Laguna Beach" and if
they aren't them, they are doing darned good immitations as wannabe's. North County is not as bad, but those shows accurately depict a large segment of the population in South OC, absolutely.

I don't doubt that, but I spent most of my time in North County and Los Angeles in order to AVOID those types of people

Au contraire, mon frère, sadly it is true. Just come spend a week with me. I am from Ventura County and have lived in OC for almost 10 years. Totally different mindset from VC.

Anaheim Hills, Orange Hills, Santiago Canyon and eastern Tustin are the only parts of Northern Orange County that I'd consider "rich/affluent" by any scope of the imagination (and they are, those zipcodes contain some of the richest of the rich in OC), but Southern County (Newport/CdM, Laguna, San Clemente, Dana Hills, Mission Viejo, San Juan Capo, Coto de Caza) are also incredibly wealthy.

A lot of the inland northern cities (Garden Grove, Anaheim, Buena Park, Orange, Santa Ana, Cypress) are middle/lower class and consist of mostly 1960's-style housing and strip malls.
