I'm planning on renting out my RV storage on the side of my house for $250 per month at my home here in Laguna Hills. It will fit an RV as long as about 50 feet. My thinking being that people in South Orange County might prefer renting out a storage space closer to home in a residential neighborhood rather then farther away? Do you see any down sides to doing this? Anything I should be considering? Thank you for the feedback.

I'd be shocked if your HOA would let you do that. I drove through there last week and an ugly eyesore RV would stand out - or anything with an ugly blue tarp, or a shortwave antenna, etc.
And, if you are allowed to do that, Laguna Hills property values just went down 6%.
Charles: I doubt it. My home sits back from the road and is above the road on a bit of a hill with the RV storage behind a large privacy gate. My neighbors won't even know that it is there!
I don't see any problem if it is ok with the neighborhood and HOA. Put an advertisement in the paper or craigslist. Your price looks to be about what the large lots are charging like Baker Ranch RV Storage in Lake Forest and Mission Viejo RV Storage off Avery. These lots might be charging less now that the economy sucks as the RV industry has all but collapsed. I would go at that price, wait, and if nobody bites lower the rate.
I found this article about the Cities law enforcement on RV aprking at homes and RV storage. I found it eye opening about how many communities have lwas in place about parking your RV in front of your house. The article is posted at RV Storage Info: All about storing your RV I hope this helps you with your problem.
The best RV storage in Orange County is McBride's RV Storage. They offer the best pricing and amenities that will end up saving you lots of money and time. Check out their website here www.mcbridesrvstorage.com All my freinds love this facility because they offer the best value when it comes to RV storage. Their place is huge and they offer discounts if your willing to stay a year. I reccomend them for any type of vehicle storage needs that you might have. If you live in Orange County and you need afforadable RV storage or boat storage then this should be your first choice!
250 a month is way too much for storage at a residence. There are better deals at actual RV storage lots where you can dump tanks, wash and fill water tanks, 24 hr access.
My buddy had a RV in storage. He just loaded his truck went there, loaded everything up, pulled the RV out parked his truck in the RV spot and took off. He was paying 190 a month, had 24 hr access and security, free water ice air wash and tank dump. He had a 38 foot diesel pusher.
