Big Tee Golf Course!! I spent a large chunk of my childhood there. That's when La Mirada was the back of beyond.

Yes, there actually was open space between La Mirada and La Habra in the Beach Blvd. area. Not anymore. No more back of beyond right there. The closest thing to that nowadays is between Gilbert and Euclid straddling the Fullerton/La Habra line. It is a wilderness/nature preserve...stretches some into Fullerton....

Big Tee! We used to walk the fence outside of the driving range to grab balls that had made it through.

My gal pal Val took me a couple of times to cruise Whittier Blvd in summer of '79 in her Camaro.

It was all owned by Standard Oil. I went to Los Coyotes Intermediate School from 63-65, and was surrounded by all of that.

My Grandmother lived in the Santa Ana Canyon, just east of Imperial Highway on Santa Ana Canyon Road. We'd visit her on Sundays after Church. We lived off Valley Blvd. in L.A. and would head east on Valley Blvd. to pick up my great aunt who lived on Valley Blvd. in La Puente. Then , up and over Hacienda Heights Blvd. into La Habra. I remember the minature golf courses and the Alph Beta warehouse on Harbor Blvd. No 60, 605, 57 or 91 freeways back then. I'm grateful for that, too.
