eastside costa mesa/old town orange 2bedroom for less than $1400? (San Clemente: apartments, for rent)

Hey everyone, OC native here who's somewhat familiar with these areas and looking to move there from San Clemente due to my commute.

I'm currently living with my girlfriend and our budget is actually a max of $1700. Between $1500-$1700 there seems to be a lot of non-descript places, with some intriguing places at the top end. But in looking at much cheaper places, I'm seeing similar apartment options.

I'm just wondering is this price point feasible for these areas or are these much cheaper places too good to be true?

Any opinions on whether $1400 to $1500 would put me in a decent 2 bedroom in a decent part of costa mesa?

Harbor Village apartments is at Harbor and Merrimac. I've had a few friends live there and I believe the 2bd's ran somewhere around $1300. Parking can be a problem for guests, but there is assigned parking and the complex seemed quiet enough for a lower rent area.

You can find a decent place in Old Town orange, but you will nto find it by looking in the apartment magazines. You are looking at a small house or granny flat (or a yucky small 4-10 unit place, but you probably do nto want to go there).

You will find the places that you are looking for by looking in the ppaers or by driving around nad looking for a renatl sign (or by knowing someone).

You also might want to try the condo/apartment places accross from Main PLace Mall. It seems to me that that may be a nice location of young uns with no kids. The mall is accross one street and a small park accross the other. The freeway is right there, so it reduces your commute time on surface streets. Plus you can still walk to old town.

I've been mostly looking in Craigslist, but I drove through east side costa mesa and found lots of for rent signs for nice places. I think you're right in that this is the way to go.

As for main place, are you talking about across the 22 or on the east side of main street?
