Hey everyone I just wanted to remind everyone to stay vigilant for any sorts of crimes. In my area in general it seems crime is increasing. Its mainly petty theft crime but still. Recently a person in my family ordered something on the internet and when the package was dropped off, no one was home at my house (post guy left a note saying it was delivered). When we got home about 2 hrs later the package was gone, we looked everywhere but couldn't find anything. Someone stole it. Obviously nothing new since I've heard about people following the package truck around and stealing packages. We also got some random calls about people wanting to do, "electronic systems surveys" asking about what type of tv we have etc etc. clearly trying to profile what we have in our home.

Also from alot of friends and family i hear about cars being broken into (stereo stolen). Purses getting stolen. Identity theft. Apartments broken into. Its happening alot more often now. It looks like they go after the easy victims, snatch and run type of stuff. Trust me, you don't want to be walking around showing off your, "bling" these days. I know its an ego boost for some of you guys but honestly, its only asking for trouble in this day and age. People are on their last leg and when you don't have much to lose doing some petty theft to make a hundred bucks or whatever seems tempting. That's why its important to make sure to keep a close eye on your neighborhood and the people in it!

Stay safe guys.

I visit the "House" City-Data forum and there is a pretty good thread which reminds us of the risks:
