Anybody notice the plethora of these kinds of threads lately? Either by potential newbies to CA worried about earthquakes, or by CA'ians looking to move out of state to escape natural disasters.

It's amazing to see the effects the media/current events have on people.

How on Earth have they figured the precise date an earthquake will hit? I thought it was impossible or something. That only animals knew.

What do you think? Thanks for your answers.
No offense. Don't want to scare you. But what with all the recent catastrophes and major disasters that have been happening around the world, I wouldn't advise it. California has felt I believe 3 or 4 different earthquakes this year. The biggest one being the recent 7.0 a few days ago. With all the earthquakes that have been happening strangely like a domino effect, I don't want to imagine what's in store later this year. California has been very lucky in the game so far. But who's to say a bigger one won't strike soon? I'm just saying, if I were you, this wouldn't be my year to move at all.

Also there is still the money problem and lack of employment. They say the recession is over but it really isn't.

Media? It's not just that. These things have actually been happening much more than usual and people are worried for their saftey and their lives. I don't blame them for worrying and asking a billion times about it. Better safe than sorry.

Except that they have not been happening much more than usual, large earthquakes happen all the time. But usually they occur where there are few people.

Who's to say a few Category 5 Hurricanes hit Florida's major population areas next Hurricane season?

Are you planning your move?

I'm not worried, but just to be safe, I upped my homeowners insurance coverage (after verifying it covers damage due to asteroid collisions) and lowered my deductibles.

U.S. Geological Survey Earthquake Hazards Program will show you what happens every day but no one can predict earthquakes with any certainty.
