Anyone with comments about Leisure World Seal Beach?

Wondered about the condition of the property, politics and why there are so many units available right now?

Thanks

my grandmother used to live there, apparently you have to pay cash to buy a unit. otherwise it was a decent place from what i remember, lot's of golf carts cruising around. the units are a bit dated though, but i guess architectural aesthetics aren't that important to potential buyers there.

There's always lots of units available. It's a huge retirement community(population 9000+). People die, the places pass on.

As far as condition, well kept but old. The place was built in the 60s.

Politics: I'm sure there are all kinds of internal politics. The place is larger than many towns outside of CA and even inside of CA. As far as national politics, the area trends conservative(particularly libertarian themed conservatism)

If I was going to retire today, I'd be happy with a place like that. Plenty of amenities, centrally located, close to major hospitals(Long Beach Memorial, St Marys) and closer to a smaller regional hospital(Los Alamitos), in the less expensive county side of the OC/LA border, and minutes from a very nice family beach.

It's where to go to die. Depressing, watch neighbors get carted off, one by one.

Overall I like that area. Lone concern (and this extends to the far Western edge of Westminster) is due to the nearby ammo and ordnance bunkers at the Weapons Depot. But the chance of an accident is low.

Yes, it seems depressing to recognize that we all grow old and die. But worship of the Lord can bring peace to everyone, young and old:

Our days on earth are like grass;
like wildflowers, we bloom and die.
The wind blows, and we are gone—
as though we had never been here.
But the love of the Lord remains forever
with those who fear him. Psalm 103:15-17

Don't be upset by the use of "fear" in verse 17. This is a translation from the Hebrew, and fear translates to the restraint a mischievous child would have in the presence of their just father.
