Don't flatter yourself. I was raised in Orange County and my parents spent their last years in Dana Point where they both died. I was reading the thread out of interest when I came across your usual unhelpful comments.

Is this something new? I don't remember anythng like that when I lived there but that was 20 years ago. I recall the stench from a dead grey whale that washed up on Salt Creek in the 70s but nothing of a regular nature. Also, during red tides it got a bit smelly but not much beyond the beach.

Yes true, it's more prevalent closer to the beach, but I was able to smell it at least 2-3 blocks away.
