I had a similar post, but I think we have decided on Brookings, not Gold Beach.

I would GREATLY appreciate any info on the Brookings area! Schools, shopping, parks, recreation, activites for kids and teenagers, crime, etc etc.

Is there need for childcare? I would be looking into opening one in my home. I have only one more class to take before I am licensed and I currently work in a certified daycare.

I really need lots of info on the area. We will be moving from Roseburg.
Thank you!!

Quieter. More retirees than Roseburg (well, then again, maybe not). Activities for teenagers: Cruising the PU up the Chetco, stopping at a gravel bar, building a fire, drinking beer. Reasonably good salmon and steelhead fishing and summer swimming holes. Brookings is in a fairly small, fairly poor county, but I like everyone I've met. I get there for fishing in Januaries - that's how I know about the bonfires on the gravel bar.
