Looking seriously at Canby, OR. Please let me know all the positive and negative for growing raised bed gardens, where to live with SOME land close to 1/2 acre. And bicycle friendly. Any farmer's markets? Availability of fresh produce NOT in major grocery store chains? Dial-a-ride services? Any exemptions for seniors on limited income for lower property taxes? Thanks.

Love Canby. I grew up about 14 miles from there (Molalla area), and some of my familiy lives there still. There is a farmers market May to October.

There is also a great fruit stand on the way out of town towards Molalla.

Not sure what your budget is, but there are many homes on acreage between Canby and Molalla -Macksburg and Liberal area.

My Mom has had a great garden every year since as long as I can remember. The soil is very rich in Willamette Valley, though the rain does delay actually being able to till it to get one put in until July sometimes.

Canby is somewhat bicycle friendly. Out in the country you sometimes have to deal with loose dogs chasing you, and logging trucks on narrow roads.

I see you are somewhat same area as I am right now. Good luck on your "escape". Wish I was going back too.
