Would love to hear more about Brookings-Harbor, what people think of the town, dislikes/likes. What people do for fun, is there a good age range or is it mostly a retired community? I am in my 20's so definitely want there to be plenty of people my age. Any other useful information for someone who would like to visit the area!

That's weird, Bluestar. I wrote you a reply earlier today but it's not here. We'll see if this one will show up.
I toyed with the idea of moving to Brookings when I was still in my 20's, too. But I figured it was just a little too isolated. I'm also an urbanite. I think you might get bored there since it seems to be mostly retired folks. The area is really beautiful & has a lot of outdoor activities. Some of my favorite campgrounds are in the area. You might want to take a look about 100 miles south in Eureka. It has a larger population which includes Humbolt State & a community college. Good luck wherever you end up moving!

First of all, Brookings is an incorporated city. "Harbor" is merely what the folks living in the unincorporated part of Curry County south of the Chetco River like to call themselves. Living in Harbor is different from living in Brookings.
The two biggest requirements for being satisfied here are:

1. An unflagging love of chilly weather, even in summer. If you think that 68F is "too hot," you'll fit right in.
2. A desire to be separated from people under the age of 70. If you want to live in a town where the main social activity is getting together and swapping WWII stories -- and everyone in the group remembers those days -- this may be your place.
