I don't know why finding a house would be a problem. Do you want to buy a house? If so check out Realtor.com. Just write in the location you want and you'll get lots of houses for sale. If you want to rent then take a look at the local newspapers. There should be some links to them on the city-data page for that particur community that you want.

Another idea is to take a look at some of the small towns close to Roseburg. Good luck with your search.

Red face relocation again

no,i dont want to buy a house.its just that im having a problem finding a rental.i dont own a car so i cant rent a house out in the country(they have lots of those).and i dont really know any sites to go to.cannyon ville is a small place.its famous for its casino and i think has only 6000 residents.im wondering if theres anyone from roseburg, riddle or cannyonville who could tell me something about these places.the reason for riddle or cannyonville is that ive applied for work at the casino.sorry.maybe i sound stupid.

You don’t sound stupid to me. Many times, its difficult for any of us to get across exactly what we're trying to say online. Dan (clear2land) is a Roseburg expert, you might try PMing him. Could you ask someone in the human resource department at the casino where you have applied? They may have some leads for you. Also, check into the local papers, maybe even put up a notice in one, or up at the local market. As for information online - try looking up stuff like 'Canyonville, Oregon Newspaper' and the other towns you’re interested in.
I hope you find what you are looking for and the best of luck to you.
Tiffany

I have been to Roseburg and liked it very much. Just to chime in, ask the locals you talk to. Dont be shy about how many you need to ask because they will have different answers and go with the one you hear most often. People I have talked to about those things always have an opinion, and it is very useful. This sounds bad but in my experiance the realtor is not the one to ask as they seem to know only the best places they are selling. Go with a local who is not makingmoney on it.

One thing we have done in the past is to contact a realtor for rentals, as homeowners/landlords sometimes contract with realty companies to find renters.......
Maybe if you Google realtors in that area OR look in the online Yellow Pages, you'll find some realtors you can call to see if home rentals are available?
Good Luck!!

I think its understandable to be scared of change, esp if we do not know what to expect in a new town or city...why not go for a small trip up that way, stay in the city and look around, travel by bike maybe? Get a feel for the area, and found out where the safe areas are, either from here or.and a realtor, most are happy to help you, you can also find out bout rentals for realtors too, often times they help renters find a home, they are called property managers and can usually be found in the yellow pages, good luck to you, I can image how difficult it must be for you here, I have moved often and sometimes I get panic attacks, end up in the er for a few times in the beginning cause its sometimes that overwhelming for me anyhow, but anyhow, go slow, check things out and take your time!

Default Roseburg

I'm a local Roseburg resident. I've lived here for several years (other than a few spent in Texas and Iraq thanks to the army). What are your questions? I even have a family member who's a real estate broker that I could forward any questions I don't have answers on too. From reading what you've written so far, I think you're going to have a much easier time finding a place in Roseburg over Canyonville, just because of the size difference, and the availability of housing in Roseburg compared to smaller towns such as Canyonville and Riddle. The downside is if you're planning on working at the casino, Roseburg is about a 25 mile drive from Canyonville.

Default Another suggestion

Hi Lucia! I'm new here and thought that maybe you could investigate the Casino website more. They have an Rv park that allows pets and is within walking distance to several places, also a shuttle. RV living is nice. You could purchase one in the area and they will deliver it and set it up. You'll need permission for an extended stay, but many live in their RV's and are very happy. Later if you want to move you can purchase a truck and move it yourself to another area. It's something worth investigating if you are not wanting to buy a home. Good luck to you!
