Hi, I'm looking to buy land in Oregon.
1. I'd like a spot that has rainfall, but NO snow. Somewhere I can collect rainwater too.
2. Somewhere with trees, a close-by river within hiking distance, no dry brush, mostly green...
3. Not too dry, but lots of sunshine, and the warmest winter weather possible.
4. Within driving distance(30 mins max), of a Target, Wal-Mart, K-mart, etc...

Lots of sun and warm winter weather don't go together in Oregon. The cloud cover is what makes the winters warm here. Your criteria are mutually exclusive. So...you'll need to prioritize what you want. Most of the valley gets snow every year but it only sticks every three years or so.

If you take out the lots of sunshine part then the Willamette valley works.

Is that the region from Salem to Portland? I'm going to have a garden, mostly vegetables, and some fruit. Is there a better part of the valley for outdoor gardens?

Pick another state. You can't have not too dry and lot's of sunshine with rain and no snow.

I think you should go to the Honolulu forum.

It looks like you're looking for Heaven. I not sure whether Heaven has big-box stores yet, but it's probably just a matter of time.

You can accomplish this in Oregon - you move here, take advantage of our doctor assisted suicide, and if you have been good, you will be sent to Heaven.

Define "lots of sunshine, and the warmest winter weather possible".

Hahaha, let us know if you find that in Oregon!!!

Like someone else said, check out Hawaii. Or Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana....etc.

Yeah, that's pretty funny. I guess you could get close with Brookings, but it doesn't have those big-box stores. And summer days can be colder than winter ones.
