reblynmoore,

Lincoln city, Oregon is nice a little upper crusty, small city.

Surf ? ok better a little south, problem with Oregon coast's is that it is very rocky and cliffy....surfing is pretty dangerous because of the tides that can just all of a sudden come in...and rocks, south of Tillimook paradise valley west of this is surfing...

Schools, Oregon has the best schools around..they are known for this....Home Schooling....is ok but, Oregon schools are very good and quality.

Problem with Lincoln city is the rain.....rain rain rain, and gets up to 90 mph on the coast and rain blowing sideways....
The trick to Oregon is this....the cascade mountains split up Oregon the east side is 300 days of sunshine and some snow....the west side is know for rain rain rain....and working in Lincoln city....ohhh slim...resorty, If I was you coming from NY, you may like Bend, Oregon...not on the coast but, very resorty, growing like crazy and carpentry or framing work! go their....Mt. Bachleor is the hotspot for snowboarding, sking....{Moderator cut]

hiking, fishing, camping, totally resort community 100,000 population...check out the website and this will tell you...

Word of wisdom....Oregon coast is nice to visit but, man oh man the weather is bad....in winter, if you like rain..go for it.

thanks for all the info

we are set on living on the coast, but bend does sound nice. we will definitely be taking trips out there to snowboard.

we are also set on homeschooling, for personal reasons, not because of anything against the school districts.

thanks!
