I'm looking for suggestions for good wedding venues in central Oregon or the Portland area. I saw pictures of the Sunriver Resort and I loved the rustic log cabin kind of look with a very warm feel.

The months I'd like are the fall months, like September or October, maybe early November.

Anybody had particularly good experiences with wedding venues? Or been to any really cool weddings?

Thanks!

Try Oregon Gardens in Silverton and Moonstone Hotel which is located there..
I volunteer in gardens out there and there are lots of wedding sites..You need to book
almost a year in advance..Check it out..

I've been to 3 Central Oregon weddings. They were all outdoors.

One was held at Drake Park downtown Bend. Wouldn't recommend it. Goose crap everywhere.
One was held at Tumalo Falls. It was OK I guess, but it was difficult for everyone to reach.
And the last one was held at the Eagle Crest resort just outside Redmond. I think that was my personal favorite, though it might have been due to the fact that right after the ceremony, 3 buddies and I went and played a round of golf on the ridge course.

Black Butte Ranch also does weddings.

You know it might be more helpful if you say what you want in a wedding site.

I've never been to any weddings here in Central Oregon as I've only lived here 2 years, but I've seen pictures of my friends' weddings held at various venues, so I can at least offer that.

The High Desert Museum has a very unique wedding experience and a friend of mine said it was a really cool wedding. If you like the "rustic" log cabin look, you might check out Aspen Hall at Shevlin Park (I think that's what it's called anyhow) or Elk Lake Resort along the Cascade Lakes Highway. Both friends who had weddings at these locations had great pictures and a good experience.

If you are looking at a fall wedding in Central Oregon your best best is September or early October. Anything after that, the weather is probably not going to be in your favor for an outdoor wedding. IMO, even the fall months are questionable for an outdoor wedding, but are doable, especially if you have a nice indoor area that you can hold the ceremony at in case you need to. One other thing to note is that the fall colors are not exactly prevalent around Central Oregon. If you want a fall wedding for the colors, I would be sure to check out the grounds and see if you will have some deciduous trees. Otherwise, you might as well have a summer wedding so at least the weather is almost guaranteed to be beautiful.

Hope this helps a bit!

We checked out having our wedding in the Log building at Sunriver and the only reason we didnt was because we didnt want our family to travel. We loved that venue! We loved the lawn that looks out to Bachelor overlooking the ponds and golf course and we loved the rustic look and feel of the reception hall. I have seen the room set for a reception and its gorgeous. One thing to note - if you have it in the fall I probably would not go with an outdoor ceremony as it gets cold. Even snowed last November when we stayed at our house in Sunriver. I would definitely do it. I think the cost of the room was $10,000-$15000 for rental

You might call around to some of the Historic Churches and see what's available. If you need that info, call the City or Counties Historic Society (or check their webpage) for Historic Churches in the area.

If you are okay with a summer wedding, I would highly recommend Timberline Lodge. They have packages, and their staff truly defines the words "customer service." October/November there would likely be an indoor ceremony, but would not have to be.

It was that or the chapel in Yosemite Valley!!!

One of the favorite venues in Bend is Aspen Hall which is a part of Shevlin Park. It is separated from the rest of the park, has plenty of parking, has a very nice building for the ceremoney/reception in case the weather is not nice enough to be out on the large deck. Reserve through Bend Parks & Recreation and way in advance.

That isn't what most people think of as "Central Oregon" - it is east of I-5 near Eugene. If we are talking Willamette Valley, I'd pick the Oregon Gardens near Silverton. I've been to a couple weddings there, but I suspect it is spendy. I know the room rates were. Other weddings I have been to around there were at The Newell House at Champoeg and Postelwait's in Canby.

ETA: Yes, I know this is an old thread brought up by necroposting, but the info might be useful.
