Well, I'll find out tomorrow if I got the job, but I would like to know more about the area because I plan on looking at apartments to move into later this week if I get the job. Since I would be working in Lake Oswego, from what I understand I will be going against the flow of traffic each morning pretty much wherever I choose to live. Is this correct? I really don't want to deal with a commute, so I might even choose to live in Lake Oswego.

What areas are the best to live in around the area? I just graduated college, so I don't plan on buying a house, but rather just renting an apartment there. Are there any traditionally younger areas there where a guy in his 20s might find a lot of stuff to do and people in similar situations? If possible, i would like a 10-15 minute commute maximum to work. The place I would work would be in the west part of Lake Oswego, so only a minute or so off of the freeway.

I wasn't sure if I should put this in the Portland section of the forum, or the general Oregon forum, so I put it in both.

You're not going to find a lot of rentals in Lake O. It's a "rich" area, tends to have a lot of large single family houses, few apartments. Not really a single guy-type area either

But on the other side of I-5 in Tigard and Tualatin there are lots of apartments. 10-15 minutes might be pushing it, but 20 should be possible. Depends on just where you're working.

You can find apartments in L.O. - near the river, and near I-5/Kruse Way.
