Can I use my dorm address to get an oregon license/license plate? (Eugene: vehicle registration)

I'm coming to Eastern Oregon University as an out of state student. I'm coming all the way from Virginia and let's be honest, having the virginia license/ license plate on my car would just look silly out here. Will I be able to go to the DMV and get a license and plate here using my dorm address?

go read the DMV website for full details, but it appears that any printed correspondance delivered to you at your dorm address will validate residency and permit you to register your vehicle in Oregon.

I would expect the registration requirements to be very similar if not the same.

Is this really worth the $? If the car/license are valid, why spend the money unitl they expire? I don't think it looks silly. If someone else cares isn't that their problem?

Well, you won't be living in metro PDX or Eugene, so you can skip the DEQ (emissions) test that costs $21, but understand that it's still not cheap nor easy to get everything redone in Oregon. We just moved here from Ohio, and these were our costs (all in cash or check - cards not accepted):

Driverse License written test (not as easy as you think - they ask REALLY obscure questions*) - $5
Drivers License - $60 (good for eight years)
Oregon title (required for new plates) - $77 (good permanently)
Vehicle Registration - $86 (good for two years)
License Plates - $23 (good permanently)
Total - $251

In addition, I opted to upgrade from the standard pine/mountains plates to the Crater Lake plates for an add'l one-time charge of $23. There are numerous specialty plates if you want them, including EOU ($32).

*Like - if you come across a horse and rider in rural Oregon, and the rider has his/her hand up, what does it mean? Seriously - that was a real question on the test!!!

Seriously, do people in other states not know this? In Oregon, the horse has the right of way, and if you hit a horse and rider, you have just bought yourself a world of hurt.
