Thanks, everyone. I'm not sure which way we'll end up going: an already built house or renovation or building from scratch. But I'm looking for a place where there is a bit more nature, but is not too very far from civilization - for practical reasons: groceries, health care, etc. I'm still researching all sorts of options. I know I want to live near enough to mountains to benefit from milder summers, but not so far into them that I can't see the sky, especially at night: like to look at the stars and the moon.
