I've made the decision to move here to Newport, and rented a place. I almost wish I didn't have to go back home - but there's a ton of stuff to do before I move and the time will certainly fly by.

Wasn't an easy decision, but I believe I'm brave enough to start the next phase of my life with a monumental change. I've actually really enjoyed the crazy weather this week - I've felt more alive than the last 20 years in LA.

Definitely an unplanned start to 2012. 4 months ago if you'd told me I'd lose my corporate job after 12 years and move to Oregon, I would have laughed. Yet everything is coming together and I feel more at peace and sure of myself than I have in a long time. I'm looking forward to redefining myself and discovering who *I* really am, instead of what other people have wanted me to be.

Thanks to everyone up here! All your posts and comments really helped me look at my options and figure out what I wanted. As a 45 year old single female, this has been a bit scary to think about moving away from my "comfort zone" - but I'm looking forward to making a clean start.

Come May 1st I'll be here full time :-) Hopefully I won't bring the snow again when I come back - lol.

Default Congrats!!

I think it is very brave of you to make such a huge life change just like that My family and I plan on moving to Portland in a few years to start our new adventure, and even with years of planning and preparation, it's somewhat scary. Many people dream of doing such things but never get the chance. I hope it is everything you wish for and a truly positive experience! Keep us all posted on your move and new life!

Hoping you found a job... that's the one thing holding folks back from living out on the coast.
(well, that and the ever-changing weather, but some of us actually enjoy that part. )

I'm self-employed, website development, so I can really live anywhere and do my job. I may also do some volunteer work at the aquarium during the season, but I'm set financially. I got a little hail to send me off this morning - lol. Driving back home to pack down the 101 - brutal rain all the way. Just stopped in Eureka for the night to warm up my toes :-)

Just wanted to post a quick update. Movers just picked up my stuff, and I'm dealing with the last minute moving details today. Tomorrow morning, I hop in the car and start driving. Life 2.0 here I come.

A big thank you to Nell, Random_Walk, Steve and all the others that patiently answered my questions. I plan to continue to be active up here in the forums - you all are the best! :-)
