They are there and they bite. Being a drier area of the state, most are near the rivers, in lawns, and old tires, and Roseburg has a lot of old tires.

Are mosquitos prevalent in Oregon in general? Are there areas where they are not as prevalent?

Mosquitoes tend to be a problem in areas where you have a combination of warm and wet conditions. By the time it warms up in Oregon, it's also drying up, so you won't find serious mosquito problems in most parts of the state (well, I can't speak for Eastern Oregon but that's mostly uninhabited).

There are definitely mosquitoes in the mountains but on most properties in the Valley they won't be a serious problem. If you happened to have a property next to a wetland or pond they might be more of a nuisance there.

They breed in hollow trees full of water as well.
