Hi all. My family and I are wanting to camp (travel trailer) on the coast before it's too late! We're in Spokane and haven't had a chance to get any camping in this year. We have our eyes on the Northern part due to drive time. My question is: Is early-mid October too cold? If not, where would be a good place to camp?

We'd really appreciate any info anyone could give us. Work has had us tethered and we're desperate to get away before the winter traps us until next summer!

Thanks so much,
~Kori

Lincoln City South is good Camping Year Around.

Try Devils Lake, Sunset Bay, or Beverly Beach. There are over fourty not just good , but really great year around camp sites between Lincoln City and Brookings.

Depends on your definition of too cold. I've camped major portions of the coast in December and January. Steve's suggestions are all great, I would only add Fort Stevens to the list.

BTW, when the winter storms come in, you want to be on the southern Oregon coast. Down around Bandon, Charleston, etc. Storm watching is a big deal and pretty fun.

Yeah, I'd go for Fort Stevens, too. Going further south to Lincoln City is adding extra drive-time that doesn't seem necessary.

Weather on the Oregon Coast in October can be delightful. The winter storms usually don't start rolling in until November, and you can catch warm, still days after all the tourists have gone home. You will have your pick of campgrounds. Some of the greatest times I have ever had at the coast were in October.

Or, it might rain. Definitely pack your rain gear. Expect daytime high temps in the 60s or even low 70s if it's sunny, in the 50s if it's stormy.

Yep. It's take your pick. Weather doesn't change much from summer to winter.

Generally October weather is pretty good the first half of the month. Being October you won't need a reservation. Just keep an eye on the weather forcast and go if it looks nice.

Even if the weather looks bad, go anyway. The storms are one of the best things to see on the coast.
