If the pumps are on and the business is open, they are pumping.

No, there are no signs telling you that pumping diesel is legal. Most stations are not even aware of it.

Never assume anything. Know or find out.

Hmmm. 48 out of 50 states allow self-serve. Opponents say self-serve is dangerous. Shouldn't it be child's play to show the degree of danger after 40 years of self-serve? Do the statistics exist?

Self-serve gas in Oregon? Not likely - seattlepi.com

Actually I think it is now 49 out of 50.

I love Oregon.

I love someone else pumping the gas.

I don't care much for the selfish individuals who want to see so many lose the only income they have.

Jobs are jobs, even if you wouldn't do it.

I've never in over 60 years heard anyone claim that attendants at stations is for safety. It is for environmental reasons to prevent gas spills. Oregon has always been environmentally friendly, although some of the in-comers don't seem to catch on.

The additional benefit is that it provides a lot of jobs. I've been to other states and self serve gas stations are not any faster and they certainly are not any cheaper.

I don't want to see anyone out of work.

I would like a choice at the pumps.

Stations with real service could actually market it. Remember when someone checked your tires and oil? The attendant actually cleaned the windshield.

I would pay for that any day of the week.
