Well, it is that time of the year when Les Schwab and Fred Meyers secretly conspire with the local weather forecasters.

The weather people forecast snow, then everybody gets worked up.

Les Schwab makes a killing on snow tires and Freddies does the same with emergency food hoarding, batteries, snow shovels and those plastic saucers for the kiddies.

There is a local Agricultural supply company that has a weather page called "The weather Cafe by Rufus". Google it.
Very accurate weather forecasting.
They are saying we are going to get hit with at least VERY COLD weather by the end of December. Maybe snow. Sounds normal.

(Disclaimer: Anything weather related in the above post is only my opinion.)

It was a nasty night last night. It's about the only time I have seen my dogs decide they just didn't want to go out. Normally they love wind and rain, but the sleet was blowing sideways and it really stung. It has been a sunny afternoon, though. We'll see what tomorrow brings. They are predicting snow.

Our chief says it all: “The wind was really blowing,” Baker City Police Chief Wyn Lohner said this morning.

I don't know how the weather has been for the rest of you guys, but here in the Portland area it's been very mild.

I haven't seen a good hard frost, nor have I had to scrape my windshield.

Now it appears we are going in the other direction, quickly.

Apparently Verizon offers an emergency alert service - which I didn't even realize I had turned on for my new cell phone. It rather startled me to hear the "emergency alert" (like the one on the radio) coming out of my phone. Of course, by the time I actually GOT the alert, the advisory had been posted up on the weather sites for about 3-4 hours.
