Read this, this morning. Due to a surplus the state is returning 44% of your line 22 state tax liability in 2022 to all full year Oregon residents in a kicker credit when you file taxes in 2024.

What news! Having lived in this state for a couple of years I’m glad they are returning the money to tax payers on a pro rata basis and not an equal amount to all tax payers like my previous state used to like to do. For a single earner like myself that pays very high state income taxes this is by large a huge tax credit for me.

I was reading more about this and they knew for some time there was going to be a refund given out. The left was saying this is a big tax break (uhhhmm getting our money back we paid?) for the rich while the working families and poor get little to none. There was some sort of lush to distribute the surplus evenly to all citizens. That’s the bull crap my old state did. Yea let’s not return the surplus on a percentage basis to who actually overpaid, we’ll just redistribute the overage. I’m so glad that measure did not gain traction.

Funny how people are happy to "receive money" that never should have been stolen from them in the first place by this corrupt state.

How can there not be uproar by citizens as to the total incompetence of a state government that cannot remotely "guess" as to state expenditure and income? Kicker Returns in the area of 40 plus % are absurd.

I am sure Oregon state government pocketed millions in interest on the taxpayers loaned "donations."
Millions the taxpayers rightly are owed.

I’m happy the state didn’t just embezzle it and use the surplus for wish list items.

True- that is ONLY because current law dictates they must return.
Stay vigilant though - the Progressives will continue pushing to change this as they firmly believe they are smarter than taxpayers.

I am shocked they didn't find a way to drain it off. I did hear they paid their employees thousands in bonuses for being such hard and dedicated workers during the pandemic or something foolish like that. Plus a fat COLA. Even after that, they still came up with a surplus.
