Past two weeks I have been browsing to get some information on roseburg OR and I have not got few questions answered.

1) Whats the costs of living in roseburg?
2) how much will renting of 2BDR or 3 bdr apartment cost?
3) What are a good areas to live around roseburg, which are safe for the family?
4) Is the salary around 90K pa good enough to have a good life style in Roseburg?
5) IS 250k to 300K a good enough budget to buy a house roseburg or the towns around?
6) My daughter will be ready to go to school in a years time and I am looking to stay in good school district.

Don't be mean! Where in this United States, even the ridiculous Mid-Atlantic downtown's of the Tri-State complex, NY, NJ & CT can one 'not' have a 'good' lifestyle on 90K? You didn't say 'great'. Good to me means you can have the basics of food, shelter and transportation plus a movie and dinner at the end of each week and a two week vacation at the end of each year. You can do this in NYC on 90K I imagine you can do a LOT better than that ANYWHERE in Oregon.

Leisesturm,

I didnt want to sound mean.. as i am concerned that I am making a move to a place and my total family (3 members) income is as mentioned above. My wife plans to start working soon, but now she is on a 2 year break. We are first time home buyers and will be looking to buy a house in one year.. I just wanted to know if we can afford to buy a good house which is atleast 2000sqft, 3 bdr and has a small back yard for my daughter to play.

Leisestrum...you need to educate yourself. 90K per year will not allow you to purchase a home in Orange County or New York City. Many places in this country are too expensive for a person to buy a home if they're making a six figure income. Windsor asked a legitimate question. Your envy is coming through loud and clear.

Windsor...in Roseburg, you will live a very comfortable life with a 90K income. When your wife starts working, you'll live even better. An average home is probably $220K. You will be able to most likely purchase a new home on acreage. Of course, this depends on the lifestyle you want, your credit and the down payment.

I would say pretty much anywhere in the Roseburg area is going to be good for raising a family. The crime rate is very low and you'll have a small town feel everywhere. Not sure about rents, probably $500-$800 for a 2-3 bedroom in a nice place. I don't think you'll have to worry about schools either. You'll probably find that your daughter will get a good education. Probably much better than in the larger cities.

Welcome and good luck!

Thanks for clarifying Bob!!!

I have lived in cities like los angeles and NY and I know for sure you cant survive their with 90K. I am currently staying in hartford connecticut which is not as expensive as fairfield county in connecticut. I was little stressed coz I am taking a small pay cut due to the COI of roseburg to hartford.
My credit score is pretty descent (between 710 to 730) and I am targeting to pay 20% as the down payment. I saw some real estate websites but they didnt show any quality houses for the price range of 200 to 300k. I am planning to come out in roseburg by the end of next week with my family to look around.
Can you please suggest some more areas near roseburg where I can look around and it has a good neighbourhood and good schools.

Bob, I am well aware of what 90K can and cannot do in NYC. I don't need to live in Oregon to have a very good idea of what 90K can or cannot do there. The median income in the U.S. is around 40K. Windsor has to know full well what 90K can and cannot do in basic terms and therefore his question albeit reasonable was asked (IMO) in an insensitive manner.

Windsor, I'm not very familiar with Rosburg other than that you should do just fine on 90k. I hope you enjoy the area, I love western Oregon.

I would be too if I were coming in from REAL snow country! You may want to bring some shorts. Well, okay, maybe not. But a light jacket is recommended.
