I'm not sure what grades your child(ren) are in, but the better schools that I know of in the Medford area are:
Elementary - Abraham Lincoln, Lone Pine, Jacksonville (very good) and Mae Richardson in Central Point.
Middle School - Hedrick
High School - Both North and South Medford High
Again, especially in the Middle and Senior Highs, you will find a mix of all kinds. It sounds as you are more concerned about the nature of the other children yours will be around and how they will be influenced by them. I agree with Clear2land that it starts at the home and with the parents care, direction and involvment.
I'm not sure if I am of any help, but feel free to ask me any questions and I will see what I can do to help. As mentioned before I grew up primarily in Medford. My first very young years were in Klamath (not high on my list of desireable areas). Good luck with your continued search

In a bad school district your kid's tend to pickup bad habits from other kid's that are punks.

One other thing I thought I should mention is that I believe all Oregon teachers are to have a certain amount of continuing education, in which many teachers are achieving their MA's. (Teachers may actual be required to receive their MA's eventually. I cannot say for sure if that is fact, but think that is the case for newer teachers.)

about the schools districts, or some have no choice, but
i have that luxury of that choice. My children are priority
number one and want the best for them. My parents did not
care where we went to school as long as we pass with atleast a
grade of "C"... I do not want my children growing up in that
environment and i bet they will thank me later for that.
Because you care a lot, they will do well and yes they will thank you for caring rest of their lives! The grandchildren will do better because you cared. Parents have to care before kids can do well in my opinion.

Wow SteveO does your ex wife live here or something. The schools here are no worse than anywhere else in Oregon, and no better. What makes any school these days better is Parent involvement. There is a tremendous amount of that Here.
Thanks for the compliment on the type of people that live here.(smack)

Zimbabwe, your off your nut. Maybe you need to go to Zimbabwe to get an education.
On second thought I bet you live in Grants pass and are a no growth advocate. Yeh thats it, You love Grants Pass and don't want to share.
Shame on you. In kindergarten they taught us to share, did you forget?

North Medford was a fine school back in the day. I like Ashland better than either Grants Pass or Meford, although it's become quite expensive. Weather in the Rogue Valley is much nice than to the north, and kids can play outside almost the entire year. Good biking along Bear Creek as well.

Thats why If you are inclined; Homeschooling is best.
Oregon is a great homeschool state. Many others to connect with.

The old adage of what about the social interaction I think can be put in its place.
We home school because of the poor Social interaction in the public school sysytem. Our oldest graduated High school at 15 and has been in college for 2 years now. She isn't learning much (slow paced) so she will most likely just start her own business next yr. My 9 yr. old reads at highschool level. They are done with school work most days before lunch. And off to living.
That may scare some parents that rely on Public school for baby sitting.

I don't think much has changed from what people already wrote, other than various house price reductions.

We were in the area from 2005 to 2008, and I'd be happy to live in either town if I didn't prefer the cooler climate in north Oregon, or being close to a big metro area.
