It's always a challenge to come up with good costumes for kids in Oregon - it's likely to be dark, cold and rainy, which lets out a lot of the flimsy store-bought costumes. Unless you make your kid wear a coat and gloves over his/her costume, which generally does not go over well....

Growing up in Michigan, we had similar problems. You have to buy the flimsy costume much larger so you can wear the coat or sweatshirt underneath.
