We lost ours until about noon. I can't remember when it went out, but when it came back on the Christmas tree lit up! I was tired of melting snow on the wood stove. Now, I always make sure I have plenty of water set aside, just in case the pump isn't pumping.
Lots of folks around here lost their power for a LOT longer. We got lucky.

I've done my homework on the Honda's. They have a great reputation and quiet, too. They're also expensive!! We'll get a couple someday. I hear the Yamaha (is that the one) comes in at a pretty close second.

The 3000, if you can afford it, is quieter then the 2000 by a huge amount.

Yep, Yamaha is pretty good too.

So far I have 1 Honda...

The 3000 is much heavier. I've never heard the 3000 is quieter then the 2000i.

I like the 2000 size. Good for Travel Trailer, too. I like that you can connect them for twice the power, or use them separately. Nice to have that option. $2,150. Not in my budget this winter.

True, it is heavier. But definitely quieter, I have both and there is a noticeable difference. The handle and wheels makes it pretty mobile though and it's easier to move around then the 2000. Unless you're trying to leverage it up to the bed of a pickup of course

Yeah, but what we are burning is a year old and well seasoned. There's piles and piles of fairly green stuff that will be good firewood next year.

It's great to not be concerned about staying warm. A wood shed is our own little utility company, and no matter how nasty it gets, we can be comfy and have something to cook on. We had an ice storm about 10 or 15 years ago that took out the power for 5 days. I fed the whole neighborhood off of that wood stove. Lots of pot roasts and stews, plus gallons and gallons of hot coffee. I rigged up gravity feed water, so the toilet works even if there is no power.
