Probably somewhere around Monroe. It's an easy commute to either Eugene or Corvallis and there are some really pretty properties on the east slope of the Coast Range.

I lived in Monroe for a couple of years while I went to UO and my wife worked in Corvallis. It was great! We had a lot of wildlife there including turkeys, bobcats, and even saw a bear on the road one spring. Pretty convenient to travel down to Junction City for grocery shopping.

There are some locations in those Coast Range foothills that provide great views of the Cascade peaks on clear days.

I would live inside the Coquille River Lighthouse in Bandon. Because, it would be awesome.

I don't plan to leave CA, but if I moved to OR, it would be to Brookings. I love the coast and mild year-round weather.

I want to move to Ashland in retirement. A little bit of California, a little bit Northwest. Well, all Northwest just a little bit drier and warmer.

And if I end up in Ashland, I can even get into the spirit for the Shakespear Festival.

"Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?"

Crooked River Ranch. It still feels like Oregon and everyone is running on Oregon time. Full mountain views from almost anywhere. Close enough to Bend to drive in and shop at Costco or attend any of the festivals that appeal. Weather is better than Bend.

That reminds me of 1969 when a guy called me on the phone to sell me an acre of land in Central Oregon for $500, $50 down and they would carry the paper. I laughed at him. For that price you could buy good Willamette Valley irrigated bottom land. It was someplace I had never heard of, called the Crooked River Ranch.

I could have managed 10 acres at the time. Oh well, it's just one opportunity to make a killing among many that I have passed up.
