I sincerely believe there is no chance that Measure 91 will fail to pass.

And that is great news for this country. The more states that legalize will have a true domino effect.

As other states realize they are losing revenue by:

1. Their residents traveling to legal border states and spending their recreational money there.

2. Increased law enforcement spending because people in legal states will sell to people in border non-free states.

3. Lost tax revenue.

Eventually, all states will be forced to legalize. And if they don't, they are doing a great disservice to their citizens.

I don't think the proponents really care.

I think proponents don't agree that the legalization would actually HAVE that effect, that legalizing marijuana for adults would not necessarily lead to increased use by teens.

Teens don't think so, either.

I would rather have waited a year or two and let Washington and Colorado be the "first adopters" to deal with all the ins and outs and THEN craft a measure. I also want to see strict controls on marketing, so we don't see aggressive marketing campaigns for legal pot, much like the campaigns that exist for alcohol and (and previously existed for) cigarettes.

I don't think it is an issue because it will not pass.

That doesn't make it legal just because it is done.

That doesn't make it legal just because it is done.

Making something legal or illegal is usually the prerogative of the corporate interests with the deepest pockets. It has little or nothing to do what is actually in the best interest of the public. Just a manipulation of the legal system to protect one monopoly or another.
