Hi,

I am looking for some opinions on places to potential move in Oregon. I am a recent graduate Physical Therapist Assistant in Las Vegas, NV. I spent a number of years in Eastern Idaho and I am looking to get back somewhere in the Northwest part of the country. Idaho and Oregon are where I have been focusing my job search but I am trying to decided on where to apply for my next license. I have never visited Oregon but I think there are a number of areas I'd like. I'm single and 37 so social activities need to be available but not they do not need to be super hip so to speak. I'm not looking for the big city of Portland something smaller or medium. Somewhere with a reasonable cost of living. I love fishing and hiking so that needs to be easily accessible. An area with good health care options would be great too obviously. Any suggestions?

Thanks

You should consider Bend and Eugene.

I second the suggestion to look at Bend. My husband is in healthcare (RN at the hospital) and we have quite a few friends who are PTs and PT assistants. They all seem to have work here. Bend would fit your desires well, in terms of social scene and the plethora of hiking and fishing opportunities literally a stones throw away.

One thing to consider though is the cost of living. You didn't mention anything about that. Bend has a higher cost of living than many places in Idaho, I'm sure, but it's a tradeoff. Personally, we love Bend for the most part.

Might be worth looking at Hood River/The Dalles. I bet all those windsurfers & kiteboarders need some physical therapy from time to time.

I would suggest Ridgefield Washington which is one of the fastest growing cities in the state. The new hospital at Salmon Creek is two exits from Ridgefield with many medical office around it. In fact they have a physical therapist location right of the Ridgefield exit About Us | Ridgefield Physical Therapy Ridgefield has a national wildlife refuge that’s incredible.
