they have several branches. each branch serves their city. and it's a non profit. They have 4 branches in portland for portland people.

Keep in mind the fact that Portland State University has a highly regarded MSW program. You may have a lot of competition.

Well, then I'm glad I'm not looking at social work jobs. Just looking at jobs for just the BA.

Pay is low in the field in general. A BA alone on average max pay (mid career-end of career) is about $45,000. Most SWs in CA more or less than $70,000. Minus union dues if they work for a government agency.

The most demand for social workers is in hospitals, child welfare agencies, and also in mental health agencies.

I have met with social workers in a hospital setting. They really need to know the skilled nursing facilities in the area. It is so easy to recommend the first bed when the family really needs to have time to visit several facilities.

My personal rant.. Physicians not preparing families for that possibility well in advance of need. They want to be optimistic about the outcome of care and as a result the patient expects to sleep in their own bed after discharge.
