Why isn't there a "Medford" sub-forum? (Portland, Eugene: for sale, live)

I think there should be a "Medford" sub-forum which covers discussion of Medford and nearby cities including Ashland and Grants Pass. There's a sub-forum for the "Bend" area so why not Medford?

If you look at a number of the Oregon subforums, they're pretty slow (Salem/Eugene, and you could arguably lump in Vanc. WA).

I don't recall exactly when Bend was added, but I think it was around 2007 or so when it was a hot destination, pre-bust, and it seems to go through cycles of slow/busy.

If I were doing it over from scratch, I'd probably lump Eugene/Salem into a 'Willamette Valley' subthread. I'm on the fence about whether there should be a Medford/Rogue Valley/Southern OR sub-forum. It's not like the main state forum is so busy that Medford/Ashland threads get lost within it.

I am amazed. Hanging out on the Arizona page, I see a separate page for Prescott. And, of course, there is one for Salem, Eugene, and Bend. Why does Southern Oregon not warrant its own page? I bet the population of Roseburg, Grants Pass, Medford, and Ashland exceeds that of every area except Portland. It is a major population center in Oregon, and a unique subregion.

Yes, quite different, and actually a sizable and well-populated area.

Culturally, I think S. Oregon tend to come from different places than folks in NW or E. Oregon. The region has tons of ex-Californians (more so than any other part of Oregon), quite a few old hippies and dope growers, and a lot of old Scots-Irish loggers. When I lived in Ashland, I would quess it was > 80% ex-Californians, mostly equity-rich immigrants from the coastal cities. NW Oregon, and much of E. Oregon has its roots in the Oregon Trail immigration, the SW, not so much. We tend to have a lot of feisty loggers and ranchers, environmentalists, and exurbanites, so there is much more political polarization in SW Oregon than elsewhere in the state, because the people come from widely varied locales. And we have more retirees, etc.

It is an interest place!
