I lived there for years and always wished there was one in town. Now that I've moved back to California they finally opened one. I'm just curious, how long is the drive thru wait/how far is traffic backed up on Crater Lake Highway?

I heard on a Portland news station it was a 4 hour wait at some point today.

They interviewed people who waited in line overnight. I saw pics in the local newspaper that showed part of the surrounding mall parking lot roped off and lined with traffic cones to manage cars. No reports of real traffic problems on Hwy 62 or I5.

But I do remember living in Portland when Krispy Kreme opened up and it was much the same. Forced to choose between which line to stand in, I guess I would go for In-N-Out, but I am not a fan of waiting in line to experience the Retail Miracle of anything.

Also an In-N-Out rep said at the opening that they were looking at sites in Grants Pass and Roseburg but not further up I5.

I remember when Sonic first opened up in Central Point there was a back up over an hour. Anytime something new opens up in the valley people will turn out. I just figured that In N Out would be even more so.

During construction in Medford, the banners were stolen and moved to various laces around Grants Pass, starting about the same thing.

So, a friend talked me in to going there today. We figured they've been open a couple weeks and around 2:30 would be good, lunch crowd gone, after school crowd not there yet - nope, still a long line, with parts of the larger mall parking lot roped off into "Disney-esque" lines.

Talking to one of the guys, who is one of the 80 employees brought up from SoCal for the opening (2 month contract, including apartment) and he says they are going to be hiring drivers to do the 9 hour drive from the distribution center in California to Portland. The next store will open in Grants Pass and then Portland.

If your idea of sartorial excellence is fast-food tshirts, they have a "limited edition" In N Out tshirt featuring a "Welcome to Oregon" sign on it.
